मेलबर्नमा बिध्यार्थीहरुले बुद्ध जयन्ती मनाए धुमधामसंग

ला ट्रोब युनिभर्सिटी, बण्डुरा, मेलबर्न २८ मइ, २०१३: मेलबर्नको बण्डुरास्थित ला ट्रोब यूनिभर्सिटिमा अध्ययनरत बिध्यार्थीहरुको संस्था ला ट्रोब यूनिभर्सिटी नेपालिज एसोसियसनले युनिभर्सिटी हाताभित्र पहिलो पटक बुद्ध जयन्ती धुमधामका साथ मनाएको छन । यो बर्षको बुद्ध जयन्ती बिदाको दिन परेकोले र बुद्धको जन्मस्थलका बिषयमा अनाबस्यक तवरबाट दिग्भ्रम सिर्जना गरिएकोले बिदेशीहरुका बीच पनि नेपाल र बुद्ध जन्मस्थलबारे जानकारी दिने अभिप्रायले कार्यक्रम बुद्ध जयन्तीपछि बिस्वबिध्यालय खुल्ने दिन आयोजना गरिएको थियो ।

कार्यक्रममा ठूलो संख्यामा बिदेशीहरुको पनि उपस्थिति थियो । कार्यक्रममा बिस्वबिध्यालयको नियमानुसार एक घण्टा मात्रै श्रब्य सामग्री बजाउन मिल्ने भएकोले एक घण्टा बुद्धसम्बन्धी गीत र भजनहरु बजाइएको थियो । कार्यक्रमस्थल नेपाली झन्डा, बुद्ध नेपालमा जन्मनु भएको सन्देश सहितका पोस्टर, बुद्धको मूर्तिले सजाइएको थियो । मैनबत्ती, धुप, फलफूल र कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित हुनेहरुको चहल पहलले कार्यक्रम आयोजना गरिएको बिस्वबिध्यालयको ठूलो प्रांगडले बुद्ध मन्दिरको आभास दिलाएको थियो ।

No fancy new gear can take away the “man versus mountain” element of climbing, says one of Sir Edmund Hillary’s climbing contemporaries on the 60th anniversary of the climbing great’s conquest of Everest.

Wellingtonian Brian Wilkins, 88, was part of a New Zealand Alpine Club expedition to the Himalayas, led by Hillary in 1954, which tackled a series of mountains – Mr Wilkins himself summited six and survived a fall into a crevasse on one of the climbs with Hillary. He also made the first ascent of the northeast ridge of Mt Aspiring, in the Southern Alps.
