KATHMANDU: The Kalanki- Satdobato- Koteswor (9.5 km) stretch of Ring road will be turned into an eight-lane asphalt road with cycle tracks on both sides with aid from the government of China.
The Department of Road today signed agreement with Shanghai Construction Group, a contractor company appointed by the Government of China to complete the construction of the road within 40 months at an estimated cost of Rs 4,368 million .
It will be four lanes on each side like the Tinkune-Surya Binayak Road and it will have two service tracks on either side. Likewise, there will be an under pass of about 800 metres at Kalanki Chowk to ease traffic movement. Traffic management will be improved at intersections like Koteshwor, Gwarko, Satdobato, said Ghambhir Shrestha, Senior Divisional Engineer at DoR.
Shrestha also said the process of road construction was initiated some five years ago, but gained pace only after the design agreement was reached in September 2011.
