Rajapaksa pledges support for Lumbini

BHAIRAHAWA, MAY 06 – Chamal Rajapaksa, speaker of Sri Lankan parliament, has said the Sri Lankan government and its people will continue to work for the development of Lumbini, the birth place of Gautam Buddha.
Addressing a programme organised on the occasion of 2556th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha in Lumbini on Sunday, Rajapaksa said Buddha and Buddhism strengthened relations between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Similarly, Vice Chairman of Lumbini Development Trust Karmasangbo Sherpa said the trust has urged the government to launch different projects to accomplish Lumbini Master Plan within three years.
