1. 1773 Regulating Act British Govt. intervened to check the East India Company practices and passed the Act.Where the Act was not applied to backward areas (Darjeeling District implied)
2 1822Regulation X Territories subordinate to Presidency of Fort William races of people entirely distinct from ordinary population.
IMP 1835 Kurseong, Siliguri, Darjeeling ceded by British from Sikkim
3 1854 Made by British Govt. to bring certain territories in India under immediate authority and management of the Governor General in Council.
1857 Sepoy Mutiny

Note:
First Act to be introduced. It was Act of Parliament of the UK. After Sepoy Mutiny, British took over administrative powers from British East India Company.India became a formal crown colony, which meant the British Overseas Territory.
5. 1861:1 August Indian Councils Act: to make better provisions for the constitution of the Council of the Governor General of India
6.. 1861-70 District was included in the general regulation system for a brief period.

1866 :25 March

British annexed Bengal Duars of Bhutan & hill territory including forts of Dalimkot, Punakha & Dewangiri. Kalimpong subdivision formed part of the hill territory into the fort of Dalimkot.

    18 Duars (Jalpaiguri) were annexed with the Taluk of Ambaree, Fallacotah and the hill
